THE NIGHTBIRDS™
American rock band from Seattle, Washington
THE NIGHTBIRDS™ (stylized in all caps) is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington. Founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Robin Gibson, the group writes and performs original music spanning rock, pop, blues, country, and hard rock. The band's recordings are released on the independent label Blue Robin Music. Their official website is thenightbirds.band.
History
THE NIGHTBIRDS™ traces its origins back to years before its first commercial release, with founder Robin Gibson writing, performing, and refining the band's original material well ahead of its recorded debut. The lineup that would become THE NIGHTBIRDS™ coalesced around Gibson's songwriting in the years leading up to the band's first officially released recordings.
The band released its debut studio album, The Nightbirds, Vol. 1, on February 11, 2016. The eight-track album was written, produced, and engineered by Robin Gibson and released on Blue Robin Music. Its tracks included "No Sign of Life," "Rain," "Just After Midnight," and "On Our Way."
A second studio album, Vol. Two, followed on July 23, 2019, featuring nine tracks including "Coals of Fire," "Merry Go Round," "Long Goodbyes," and "The Invincible Dream." As with the debut, all material was written and produced by Robin Gibson.
Alongside its full-length releases, THE NIGHTBIRDS™ has issued a steady stream of standalone singles dating back to 2015, with new music announced for release in 2026.
Musical style
THE NIGHTBIRDS™ is noted for a genre-spanning catalog that resists easy categorization. The band's work moves fluidly between driving rock anthems, melodic pop crossover material, blues-influenced ballads, and country-leaning recordings. Gibson's role as the band's principal songwriter and producer gives the catalog a consistent authorial voice despite its stylistic range. The band summarizes its ethos as: "Write what we feel, feel what we play."
